ALIENS VS TWOHY
Written by Christian Munoz

Would David Twohy make a good choice for the Director of ALIEN(S?) VS  PREDATOR 3, Christian here thinks he does, along with a lot of other 'fans' and even David Twohy shows interest in the idea and the petition thats been made - read more in the article below...

Several posters [on the IMDB boards] and I decided to create a petition that drafts David Twohy as writer and director of "AvP 3", after coming across an old interview that Twohy gave with AintItCoolNews (AICN) back on May 22, 2000, where he talks about being inquired for his availability to write and direct the first "Alien vs. Predator" and was even interested in helming it, but turned down the offer due to a scheduling conflict that prevented him from taking on the project.  Here's the link that confirms it:

David Twohy is an excellent filmmaker who can wonderfully write and direct futuristic sci-fi/horror films well, as Fox Studios asked to helm the series twice.  The first time was that 20th Century Fox originally hired David Twohy to write a draft of "Alien 3" back in October 1989, to which the studios liked.  But the reason why they rejected his script, was because he refused to change one of the characters to Ripley.  However, after the abomination known as "Alien Resurrection", many fans, myself included, believed that Twohy's unproduced A3 script would've been a decent Post-Ripley "Alien 4" if the setting was chanaged and the script revised.  The prison setting and the Genetically-Engineered Aliens featured in his script resurfaced in "Alien 3" and "Alien Resurrection" respectively.  Here's a link to his script:

Many people believed that his film "Pitch Black" was in the vein of "Alien", which makes him the most realistic choice to helm an AVP movie.  But because of how low the series have stooped with the first "AvP" and last year's "AvP: Requiem", even the most famous director's won't even bother about touching it.  And since David Twohy was asked to get involved with the series twice, this makes him the only filmmaker with a lot of talent who could not only revive a near-dead franchise, but also puts the series back on track.  When Twohy first acknowledged about the petition he seemed somewhat pessimistic as he said on his official website while talking about the filming of his upcoming project "A Perfect Getaway":

http://davidtwohy.wordpress.com/ :

Now on to ALIEN VERSUS PREDATOR. Apparently there's a petition floating around the internet that seeks to draft me as director of the next installment of the series. (It seems my old ALIEN 3 script figures into this master plan, too, in ways that aren't entirely clear to me.) My reaction is "Hmm." Flattering? Sure. Realistic? Not so much. See, if I'm going to spend a year of my life (and more if I write it) on the third installment of a science-fiction series, well, why wouldn't I just do the third installment of my own science-fiction series?

Catch my drif

However, after talking about how low the series has stooped and my proposition for an AVP reboot film, here's what he said to me in e-mail:

As always, Iceman, you give me much to think about. As for the petition, you should send it to Fox yourself, because it'll seem too self-promoting to have it come from me. Alex Young at Fox would be the right guy, and you should also cc John Davis, the producer. His office is in Brentwood, CA.

So after he suggested for me to e-mailing Alex Young and producer John Davis our petition, he took many of my points seriously and is possibly considering doing an AVP movie.  Here's the link to the petition itself:

Additionally, I even e-mailed him a YouTube video that fellow IMDB poster named DfGuy182 created, that talks about Twohy's work and why he's the perfect filmmaker to helm an AVP film.  Here's what David Twohy himself said about coming across the petition and reading some of the hilarious responses left by the fans:

Yeah, Christian, I checked out the petition and a few of the comments, some funny *beep* there, too. Seems like you've really the pot. Send it to me when you get a chance.

DT

So as I said, David Twohy is a very realistic choice and even he seems optimistic about helming AVP now, but it all depends on Fox, so let's hope for the best.

However, in the meantime, the petition needs more sigatures!  The signature count is currently at 1436 names, but the petition itself will need to be stronger if it is going to have influence on Fox Studio so I would be grateful if you posted about the petition!!!
