TOP TEN ROBOTS OF SCIFI..

5. DATA

Brent Spiner is only good for one thing. No, really he is.. Portraying Data, the Pinocchio like robot from Star Trek: TNG - his character the only one to receive any sort of development throughout the series - albeit a tiny one. The movies ruined him of course but he makes number 5 anyway.

4. C-3PO

The world’s first Gay robot? Probably not - but probably the most iconic of all the SCIFI robot-ness - and yet he still fails to make the top 3! Mainly because he was just so damned awful in the prequel trilogy.

3. THE TERMINATOR

Along with Conan, this was the role that defined him. Ahnulds' never been better when he's quiet and stiff as a bored - he excels in it even. OK all acting ability aside - you can't knock his portrayal of a dedicated killing machine - showing no emotion or remorse.

2. ROBBY THE ROBOT

One of the first true robots in science fiction, he first appeared in Forbidden Planet, and then appeared in subsequent 50/60's movie and TV series - even Lost in Space nicked his image to a degree.

1. Optimus Prime

Yeah you can knock him if you want, but he's the ultimate f'ing Sci Fi robot! And he transforms into a truck - ok So Mr Bay robbed him of his mystic by removing his mouth guard - but he was still cool and I love him , as do you all. Optimus Prime is ruler of the universe.

Honourable mentions.

Ash from Alien - not as cool as Bishop though
R2D2 - not as gay or as funny as C-3PO
ED209 - Only just didn't make it
KITT - the Knight Rider revamp! Val Kilmer can’t beat Mr Feeney.
HAL - Deadly but a but monotonous
DALEK - OK, I love them but they are basically just giant pepperpots - 'nuff said
THE BORG - Destroyed by the Voyager series - I can no longer rate them..
