GREEN LANTERN IN DANGER?

Production Weekly has reported that there is a possible threat to production on the new Green Lantern movie.

Green Lantern's proposed Australian shoot is understood to be under threat after the rising Australian dollar has blown out production costs.  Warner Bros is understood to be in negotiations with the New South Wales State Government to receive a greater amount of subsidies for filming there in an effort to save around $20 million. The value of the Australian dollar has climbed by over 15% since the deal to film at Fox Studios Australia in mid-April, making the country far less tempting from a financial standpoint.

The big-budget Hollywood blockbuster was expected to create around 500 local jobs, including 100 performers and 200 crew. While most productions lock in finance when a project is green-lit, it is understood that ongoing work on the Green Lantern script delayed that move. Pre-production on the film was originally scheduled for July and filming for November.

Casino Royale's Martin Campbell is directing a script by Greg Berlanti with Hal Jordan being playing by Ryan Reynold (certainly not everybody's first choice to play him).
