The third series of Heroes, currently scheduled to begin airing at the end of September, will be comprise of two volumes - each containing thirteen and twelve episodes respectively. The first volume, subtitled "Villains", will open with a two-hour episode. "Villains" was originally designed to be included within the second season however, due to the WGA strike, storylines were adapted and the volume was carried over into season three. The lead-in to "Villains" featured a scene with Sylar, which was shown as the final scene of the "Generations" finale.
Tim Kring has claimed that the new volume will bring a varity of villains to the show (who were once captured by HRG and have escaped from The Company - hence the title.
