MIDDLEMAN 1.5 : THE FLYING FISH ZOMBIFICATION |

Dub’s had another session with Sensei Ping of the Pointed Stick clan and she’s done well enough to have the Middleman (Matt Keeslar) politely jealous at being replaced as SP’s favourite. She’s happy, relaxed and enjoying life – which is why you know something is going to go horribly wrong. It’s not totally bad, in that nice-but-nutty friend Roxy Wasserman (Elaine Hendrix) has issues with her mum, and they agree to put on a joint art show which the Middleman is oddly determined to keep Dub from attending. He keeps on raising these Zombie attacks as diversions – and while Dub thinks Zombies are “totally cool” they can ruin your whole day. It’s that whole supernatural strength and death-dealing bite thing. This is another tightly plotted and highly intricate outing full of smart dialogue – one victim’s heart is in danger of exploding like “a sausage skin full of weasels” and the bad guy has a nice line in motivation based on Trout. Yes, fish Trout. Dub got a nice little mini-Middleman-mobile in a previous episode, and here we get to see what the ‘other’ key does. Oh yes and my favourite – the drink called “!!!!” which you can’t actually say, but you can throw up both arms and grin like a maniac which is apparently the approved way to pronounce it. Watching three people have a conversation about this drink is (appropriately) a gas. The team survive an attack by !!!! girls and go on to net the bad guy. Everyone lives happily ever after. Except the flying Zombie fish. Did I not mention the fish? |
