Torchwood tries to attempt a big episode here, well the concept is big – and although it works in most ways, it also manages to collapse under its own steam.
Essentially the story revolves around a burglary that goes horribly wrong, when the burglars are horrifically killed and the only person present was the young woman. It is eventually discovered that the women is actually a sleeper agent for an advance alien invasion force. However this fake personality that has fallen in love with a human, doesn’t want to go on with this new life. This is a really interesting story and well handled for the most part, the only problem I had with it, was the other sleeper agent’s looked completely stupid when they should have come off as menacing, some overweight, old bloke in a suite does not a terrifying alien make. Some of the scenes are a little bit ridiculous. I feel that with a bigger budget, and then this would have been improved greatly. Kudos must go to the actress who plays the Sleeper Alien agent, you really feel for her and her plight. Once again, the team is well supported again, and although they all play their typical stereotypes, there’s much more of a feeling of camaraderie, that was missing from last series. Although I moaned about the lack of special effects, the work done on the Women’s alien arm was really good, If a little predatorish like – but still up there. Overall a good episode that would have been even better if they had been afforded a proper budget. |
